A lot of my thoughts are consumed with nesting right now, as these last few weeks of pregnancy dwindle down. I’m also feeling such a longing to have our own home with a garden, and steward it together with my family. God knows the desires of my heart, and He also knows what’s best for my family and me. I’m striving to grow in contentment in this waiting period, and in the meantime I am praying and dreaming everyday! Anyway, here’s a little of this and that from our April this year.
1| My husband, Eric, and I are reading through this book together during our devotions and it has been so encouraging and convicting in my journey to contentment.
2| As we wait and prepare to purchase a home, I’m pinning up a storm on Pinternest! You can follow me here if you’d like to see some of my inspo.
3| My oldest son turned 4 this month (um… how is time moving by that fast?!) and we got him some Lincon Logs. You can find several sets on Amazon or Target, but we got a huge mixed set used on Ebay a lot cheaper – just a tip!
4| We needed a new dresser for my two older sons to share as we moved their current dresser into the nursery. I’m kind of in the process of changing my interior style more into the “cottage by the sea” style, so I’m moving more towards darker and richer wood tones. We purchased this dresser used and Eric spent like 20 hours sanding it down and re-staining it. I’m in love with it! We used the stain Special Walnut. Here’s the before and after.

5| One thing our family talks about a lot about for when we finally own our own home is all of the gardening we’d like to do! My son and I want to have a fruit/vegetable garden, I’d love to have a cut flower garden and herb garden, and I’m really hoping we can do window boxes with beautiful flowers!
6| I just bought a new bread knife and I’m excited for it! I still need to replace my serrated paring knife and small paring knife, but it takes me so long to pick one out. I kind of hate how indecisive I am.
7| We’re starting to make some purchases for our third baby coming soon (nothing says “third baby” like not doing a thing to prepare until your 32 weeks along). I’m trying some new baby bottles this time around, switching from plastic to glass after reading about microplastics and I’m excited! I got some silicone sleeves for the bottles as well to protect them when they are inevitably dropped.
8| Kind of random, but I feel like I’ve discovered wear you can get the BEST donuts (Sip & Dip) and the BEST smoothie (Hokulea – get the mango pineapple!). Unfortunately neither of them are near me, but if I’m ever nearby a location it is an absolutely MUST HAVE. We drove an hour away to get some of those donuts for my birthday and they were perfection.

9| My energy and capacity are dwindling in these last weeks of pregnancy, so in regards to homeschooling the most I can accomplish right now is a relatively regular morning time and some time outside. I’m hoping over the summer to think through what I’d like my oldest’s preschool year and then Kindergarten year to look like. I’m absolutely leaning towards mostly just more of what we have been doing, but maybe adding in some counting games from this book (we’ve used it a bit already and have loved it) and some informal beginner reading lessons?
10| I’m planning to make some homemade strawberry jam in the next couple weeks! I’ve been collecting some small pretty jars for it. My expectations are low, but who knows, maybe it will turn out! I’m planning to try this recipe.
Thanks for sticking around for my this & that. I’m thankful for you!
Fondly,
Sadie
